What color is blood?

Red

100

The cardiovascular system is a system which consists of:

the heart and blood vessels—both arteries and veins

100

Definition of cancer

an abnormal and uncontrollable multiplication of cells that can lead to death if untreated

100

Four major forms of cardiovascular disease

Atherosclerosis , Stroke , Heart Attack , Congestive Heart Failure

200

Where does the pulmonary artery take the blood:  from the heart to the __________

 Lungs

200

what type of blood do veins normally carry

deoxygenated

200

When the lungs are involved it is called?

Cardiorespiratory or cardiopulmonary system
200

Signs and symptoms of lung cancer

persistent cough, chest pain, or recurring bronchitis

200

What are the risk factors for CVD?

Tobacco use, High blood pressure, Unhealthy blood cholesterol levels, Physical inactivity, Obesity, Insulin resistance, Diabetes

300

Two basic parts of a heartbeat

Systole & Diastole

300

These blood vessels carry blood to the heart

Veins

300

Blood pressure is created by?

The pumping action of the heart and the resistance of the blood vessels

300

Most common- arises from epithelial tissue that covers the body

Carcinoma

300

Damage to heart tissue from lack of oxygenated blood?

Heart Attack or Myocardial Infarction

400

What blood vessel has thick muscular walls and carry the blood at high pressure

Arteries

400

The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the

Lungs

400

Difference between veins and arteries?

Arteries are thicker and carry blood away from heart while veins are thinner and carry blood towards the heart

400

Most common cancers in women & men

breast cancer & prostate cancer

400

Two types of strokes?

Ischemic

Hemorrhagic

500

Path of blood flow through the heart

Right Atrium Deoxygenated blood from the body enters the right atrium through the superior and inferior vena cava.
Right Ventricle: The right atrium contracts, pumping blood through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle.
Pulmonary Artery: The right ventricle pumps blood through the pulmonary valve into the pulmonary artery, which carries it to the lungs.
Pulmonary Veins: In the lungs, the blood exchanges carbon dioxide for oxygen. Oxygenated blood returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium.
Left Atrium: The left atrium contracts, pumping blood through the mitral valve into the left ventricle.
Left Ventricle: The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood through the aortic valve into the aorta, the largest artery in the body.
Aorta: The aorta branches into smaller arteries that carry oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.

500

What chamber does the blood return to once it leaves the lungs.

Left Atrium

500

Describe pulmonary circulation

deoxygenated blood travels from body into right atrium via superior vena cava and inferior vena cava
500

Common cancer treatments

Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy
