What is abdominal cavity
Abdominopelvic cavity, is divided into an upper part and a lower part.
What is body planes
Body planes are imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.
What is deep
internal to indicate the structures are located away from the body surface.
What is lateral
Body parts away from the midline.
What is pelvic cavity
The lower abdominal cavity.
What is abdominal regions
The abdominal cavity is so large that it is divided into regions or sections.
What is buccal cavity
Mouth
What is distal
Body parts distant from the point of reference.
What is medial
Body parts close to the midline.
What is posterior
Body parts on the back of the body.
What is anterior
Body parts in front of the plane, or on the front of the body, are called ventral or anterior
What is caudal
Body parts located near the sacral region of the spinal column (also known as the "tail").
What is dorsal
The dorsal cavity is one long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What is midsagittal plane
Right Left
What is proximal
Body parts close to the point of reference.
What is bilateral
Used to refer to which sides of the body are affected by certain pathologic conditions.
What is cranial
Body parts located near the head.
What is frontal (coronal) plane
Divides the body into a front section and a back section.
What is nasal cavity
A hollow space within the nose that extends from the nostrils to the nasopharynx (the upper part of the throat).
What is sagittal plane
Divides the body into left and right sections
What is body cavities
Are spaces within the body that contain vital organs.
What is cranial cavity
Brain, and the two spinal cavity, which contains the spinal cord.
What is inferior
Low or lower in position.
What is orbital cavity
Eye structure
What is spinal cavity
Bony tunnel that runs through the center of the spine and houses the spinal cord.
