What is abdominal cavity?
abdominal cavity, or abdominopelvic cavity, is divided into an upper part and a lower part.

Body planes are imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.

body parts away from the midline are called lateral
What is posterior?
Body parts on the back of the body are called dorsal or posterior.
What is abdominal regions?
The abdominal region is divided into nine distinct areas.
What is buccal cavity?
buccal cavity, or mouth, for the teeth and tongue.
What is distal?
body parts distant from the point of reference are called distal.
What is medial?
Body parts close to the midline, or plane, are called medial
What is proximal?
Body parts close to the point of reference are called proximal
What is anterior?
Body parts in front of the plane, or on the front of the body, are called ventral or anterior.
What is caudal?
caudal, which means body parts located near the sacral region of the spinal column (also known as the "tail").
What is dorsal?
dorsal cavity is one long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What is nasal cavity?
nasal cavity for the nose structures
What is sagittal plane?
sagittal plane divides the body into left and right sections
What is bilateral?
the terms bilateral and unilateral are used to refer to which sides of the body are affected by certain pathologic conditions.
What is cranial Cavity?
cranial cavity, which contains the brain
What is frontal (coronal) plane?
The frontal or coronal plane divides the body into a front section and a back section.
What is orbital cavity?
orbital cavity for the eyes
What is spinal cavity?
spinal cavity, which contains the spinal cord.
What is body cavities?
Body cavities are spaces within the body that contain cez vital organs.
What is cranial?
cranial, which means body parts located near the head
What is inferior?
a position or direction below or lower than another structure.
What is pelvic cavity?
pelvic cavity, contains the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine.
