What's Ventral cavities?
larger than the dorsal cavities.
What's Superior?
Body parts above other parts
What's Posterior?
Body parts on the back of the body.
What's Lateral?
body parts away from the midline.
What's cranial?
encloses and protects the brain
What's Ventral?
on the front of the body
What's Superficial?
Structures located near the body surface and deep.
What's pelvic cavity?
contains the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine.
What's frontal plane?
The relationship of the wrist and elbow to the shoulder, the wrist is distal and the elbow is proximal to the shoulder.
What's buccal cavity?
small cavities are the orbital cavity for the eyes
What's Unilateral?
conditions only affect one side.
What's spinal cavity?
contains the spinal cord
What's Orbital cavity?
for the eyes
What's Dorsal?
one long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What's Caudal?
body parts located near the sacral region of the spinal column.
What's transverse plane?
A horizontal plane. divides the body into a top & bottom half
What's sagittal plane?
divides the body into left and right sections.
What's midsagittal plane?
runs down the midline of the body and divides the body into equal halves
What's Distal?
used to describe the location of the extremities (arms and legs).
What's body planes?
imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.
What's Thoracic cavity?
Located in the chest and contains the esophagus, trachea, bronchi, lungs, heart and large blood vessels.
What's Proximal?
Body parts close to the point of reference.
What's Medial?
Body parts close to the midline
What's cranial cavity?
contains the brain
What's body cavities?
spaces within the body that contain the vital organs.
