What is a keystone species?

a species that other species in an ecosystem largely depend on

100
What are trophic levels?

Levels in which energy is transferred in an ecosystem

100

What is ecology

study of the relationships between organisms and their surroundings

100

What's the name of Goofy's son

Max

100

What's Chadd's last name?

Meyers

200

How is it useful for ecologists to study keystone species

since they are so important, if their population increases or decreases it will fluctuate/change the environment drastically

200
What shape does the trophic level diagram take?

Triangle

200

What is an abiotic factor

a non living factor : rain, sun, etc.

200

What does the rabbit continue to repeat throughout the move Alice in Wonderland?

"Oh dear, I'm late for a very important date"

200

What's Isabel's last name?

Jolley

300

what would happen if a keystone species is removed from an ecosystem?

The whole ecosystem could implode/break/dissolve/end for all of time

300

what happens to 90% of energy as it climbs trophic levels

dissipates/disappear/lost in heat

300

What is a biotic factor

a living factor: organisms, plants, animals

300

Who was Kristoff adopted by in the movie Frozen?

A family of rock trolls

300

What's Isabel's dog's name?

Daisy

400

What's the keystone species we looked at in class?

Timon/Meerkats

400

What percentage of energy does the next trophic level up take from the last level?

10%

400

when does competition occur? (Think birds in a tree, when would they compete for parts of the tree)

When they are occupying the same niche

400

What was the chicken's name in Moana

Hei Hei

400

What's Chadd's favorite color?

Purple

Think: What would happen to the community (fox population + outcomes) if farmers killed all the foxes to save their chickens? What would happen if they introduced rabbits?

If all the foxes died it would cause the foxes predators to decrease in population and their prey populations would increase causing an imbalance. Rabbits would balance the ecosystem because they would take over in the place of the farmer's chickens.

500

What type of organism lives at the bottom trophic level

producers/grass

500

What's the difference between autotroph and heterotroph?

autotroph: an organism that is able to get energy from inorganic substances

heterotroph: an organism that is able to get energy from organic substances

500

Who was Disney's first animated character?

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
