The name of the town that is having severe rainstorms
Galetown
The image is demonstrating...
When liquid water becomes warmer it can evaporate and become water vapor in the air. All air contains water.
How does this object demonstrate pressure? (High and Low Pressure)
The plunger demonstrates high pressure because force is being applied. The end of the syringe is low pressure because no force is being applied.
The wind is created from air moving from high to low pressure.

The way a cloud forms
When water vapor in an air parcel cools, it can condense into liquid water which can form a cloud and fall as rain.
How could this image represent pressure?
Equal pressure is being applied in both directions causing no movement. Once one side becomes "low pressure" wind will move from high pressure to low pressure.

What is the mystery of Galetown?
Overtime their rainstorms have become more severe
Energy transfers from warm air to cold air until their temperatures become equal.
What can be inferred about this cloud formation?
1. Medium about of energy was released in order to condense water vapor.
2. Due to the size, did not travel too high in the atmosphere.
3. Cloud did not produce any rain (not enough energy was released).
4. Due to the possible height, the pressure from around the parcel compared to at the parcel was either the exact same or similar.

Weather
Female scientist that pioneered the field of meteorology and demonstrated the importance of learning about clouds
Dr. Joanne Simpson
The more an air parcel loses energy and cools, the more rainfall can happen.
What can be inferred about this cloud formation?
1. A lot of water vapor was condensed.
2. Due to the size, traveled high in the troposphere.
3. A lot of energy was released creating a lot of rain level.).
4. A lot of energy was being transferred to the surface causing air parcel temp to increasing leading a longer time to reach stability.
5. Due to the amount of rain, the pressure from around the parcel compared to at the parcel was drastically different. High pressure surrounding the parcel compared to extremely low pressure in the parcel.

What caused Galetown to have more severe rainstorms? (Three claims)
1. The lake
2. Warmer weather
3. Stronger winds
The causes for rainfall in Galetown.
When liquid water from the lake becomes warmer, it can evaporate and become water vapor in the air. All air contains water. When water vapor in an air parcel cools, it can condense into liquid water which can form a cloud and fall as rain. Energy transfers from warm air to cold air until the temperatures become equal. The more an air parcel loses energy and cools, the more rainfall can happen.
Why did the most recent storm in Galetown have the greatest amount of rain?
The lake, warmer weather, and stronger winds all caused the most recent storm to have the greatest amount of rain. The addition of the lake caused there to be more water available to evaporate into water vapor in the air parcel. The more water vapor in the air parcel, the more condensation can occur, and therefore, more rain. Warmer temperatures would cause the air parcel to rise higher in the troposphere. The air parcel then loses more energy, causing more rainfall. Wind pushes air parcels even higher in the troposphere, where it is colder. The air parcels will then lose more energy and more rain can happen.
