The British captain was trial for murder because his soldiers were the ones who fired on the crown in Boston causing the Boston massacre. John Adams defended the captain because he supported justice and thought the captain's soldiers had acted in self-defense. He was brave to defend the captain because the British were so unpopular with the colonists.

Why did the colonists dislike the Stamp Act? What was the big deal? (hint: what happened to colonists who disobeyed the law?)
Colonists would be arrested for breaking the law and tried without a jury of their peers. A trial by jury was something colonists and British had been used to for hundreds of years. The colonists felt this basic right was being taken away. Also, the Stamp Act took away another basic right: the right to vote for their own taxes.

How did the Minutemen drive the British out of Concord and Lexington back to Boston?
They attacked the British from hidden places such as behind trees, behind buildings, underneath bridges, etc. The British were used to doing battle in fields and not fighting people who were hidden.
