Summarize Saint Thomas More's story.
He was a respected attorney, political writer, and Chancellor of England in the 1500s. King Henry VIII, More's friend, was trying to get a divorce, but the pope wouldn't let him. Henry started his own Church, and More spoke out for a long time against Henry. More was finally put in the Tower of London, tortured, and then beheaded. His final words were, "I die the king's good servant, but God's first." He was the perfect example of the virtues of prudence and justice.
Summarize Saint Pancras' story.
He was a popular and athletic fourteen-year-old boy in Rome in the third and fourth century. He defeated another boy in a wrestling match, and that boy told the emperor Pancras was a Christian (which was illegal at the time). The emperor was friendly with Pancras and just told him to make an offer to the pagan gods. Pancras refused. He was condemned to death, paraded through the streets, whipped, mocked, and executed. This martyr's last words thanked Jesus for the suffering he was about to endure.
