Korea was divided into North(communist) and South(anticommunist) Korea. North Korea attacked the South wanting to expand their communist rule, US intervened and lauched counter attack. China then also intervened but on North Korea's side. Came to a stalemate, then came to a cease fire. War never actually ended they just agreed to stop fighting.
