A teacher assumes a student is an "empty vessel" that struggles with learning. This student knows how to buy bus tokens, live without electricty, entertain with humor, find rummage sales, stay safe in the community, and other life skills.

The student builds confidence in other real-world situations rather than academic, which leads to a lack of confidence in both the student and teacher. This doesn't let the student build self-esteem for healthy learning.
