A comprehension strategy that is often used to intrigue readers and make them curious about upcoming topics

Drawn from specific content areas. ((Studying or Exploring))
What are technical words?
The ending of a word.
What is a suffix?
the ability to apply your knowledge of letter-sound relationships, including knowledge of letter patterns, to correctly pronounce written words.
What is decoding?
Learned through speaking and listening. ((Interaction with others))
What are basic/familiar words?
It is usually seen in the beginning of a word, they are most useful when they contribute to the meaning of a word and can be added to other words
What are prefixes?
Ex. Sounding out words that the children can understand but cannot recognize in print.
What is task #1- Learning to read known words?
Helps students organize vocabulary in terms of the story. Students predict words that can be used to describe elements in a story.
What is a Predict-O-Gram?
Being able to determine the words meaning through its prefix, root and or suffix.
What is morphemic analysis?
introducing vocabulary words that are not only in reading and written text but also that is spoken aloud to give context.

Words that are pronounced the same but differ in spelling.
