The Supreme Court agreed that segregated schools were not equal and therefore violated the 14th amendment. The Court rules that all public schools in the United States should be desegregated. In doing so the Court reversed its earlier decision that said segregation was constitutional as long as separate-but-equal facilities were provided for whites and African Americans.
