Classification
The process of grouping things based on their similarities
Class
the fourth level of taxonomy; A set or category of things having some property or attribute in common and differentiated from others by kind, type, or quality.
Species
A group of similar organisms that can breed and produce fertile offspring.
Phylum
the third most general level of classification; the largest group into which organism in a family are divided
Genus
A classification grouping that consists of a number of similar, closely related species
Taxonomy
The scientific study of how living things are classified
Family
A taxonomic group containing one or more genera
Domain
Largest of the categories, or taxa, used by taxonomists to group species; the three domains are Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya.
Order
taxonomic group containing one or more families
Kingdom
Second category used to classify organisms
