400

Why isn't saying "I'm sorry" always enough to repair the damage caused by a poor choice?

Because an apology doesn't automatically fix the damage. A person must take responsibility, make things right, and change their behavior to demonstrate genuine growth.

400

Why can a reputation take a long time to build but be damaged by just one poor decision?

Because trust is built through consistent actions over time, but one serious mistake can cause people to question someone's honesty, reliability, or character. Rebuilding that trust takes time and effort.

500

Two students are both friendly and popular. One stands up for a classmate being bullied, while the other joins in to avoid losing friends. What does this reveal about the difference between personality and character?

People can have similar personalities but different character. Character is revealed through actions and choices, especially when doing the right thing is difficult.

500

Your best friend asks you to lie to a teacher to keep them from getting in trouble. They say, "If you were really my friend, you'd help me." Identify TWO types of pressure you're experiencing and explain how your integrity compass could help you make the right decision.

People (loyalty pressure) and Pack (peer pressure). Use your compass to consider whether lying matches your values and whether you'd be comfortable with everyone knowing your choice. A person with integrity would refuse to lie, even if it upset their friend.

500

A student fails a test they studied hard for. They become frustrated and want to quit trying. Instead, they ask their teacher for help and study harder for the next test. Identify TWO character traits they demonstrated and explain one possible delayed consequence of their decision.

Perseverance because they continued trying despite failure, and self-control because they managed their frustration instead of giving up. A possible delayed consequence is improving their grades, developing better study habits, or becoming more confident.

500

A student spreads a rumor about a friend. When confronted, they apologize but say, "It's not my fault everyone believed it!" They continue spreading gossip about other students. How could they go trough the steps of CARE they originally failed to complete.

Confess: They haven't fully accepted responsibility because they're making excuses. Apologize: Their apology is weakened by blaming others. Repair: They haven't corrected the rumor or tried to rebuild trust. Evolve: They haven't changed their behavior because they continue gossiping.

500

A student has a reputation for being dishonest because they lied several times in the past. They have started making better choices, but their classmates still don't trust them. Does this mean their character hasn't changed? Explain the difference between changing your character and rebuilding your reputation.

No. Their character may be improving because they're making more honest choices. However, their reputation depends on how others see them. Even when someone changes their behavior, it can take time and consistent positive actions for others to recognize that change and rebuild trust.
