Matter vs non-matter
The molecules are slow moving and can vibrate in place. They have definite shape.
What is a solid?
When a solid turns into a liquid and there is an increase of energy.
What is melting?
Anything that has mass and takes up space.
What is matter?
The molecules move very quickly, and they spread out and move everywhere. They have a lot of energy.
What is gas?
When a liquid turns into a gas and there is an increase in energy.
What is evaporation?
Size and form changes within the matter. The changes are reversible (I can get it back)
What is a physical change?
They move faster than a solid, they can bump into each they take the shape of their container.
What is liquid?
When a liquid changes into a solid and there is a decrease in energy.
What is freezing?
Changes in matter that create something new. The changes are not reversible. I cann't get it back.
What is a chemical change?
This solid will float in it's liquid form.
What is Ice?
When a gas turns into a liquid and there is a decrease in energy.
What is condensation?
This state of matter has the most energy of all of them and can move throughout space freely.
What is plasma?
Even though it is much colder, this object has more thermal energy because it has a much greater mass.
What is an iceberg?
When a gas turns into a solid and there is a decrease in energy.
What is deposition?
Matter cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred.
