What is matter
Anything that has mass and takes up space. God created all matter and declared it good (Genesis 1).
what is a compound
A substance formed when two or more elements bond chemically. God combined elements purposefully to sustain life (Genesis 1:30).
what is pure research
Investigation aimed at expanding knowledge without a specific application in mind. All truth points to God's glory (Psalm 19:1).
what is a law
A statement describing an ordered, predictable relationship in nature.
what is deductive reasoning
Drawing conclusions from accepted general premises.
what is mass
The amount of matter in an object. God gives mass to all things He has made (Hebrews 1:3).
what is a mixture
A combination of two or more substances that retains the identity of its components. God wisely designed mixtures like air and blood (Leviticus 17:11).
what is an invention
A new device, method, or process developed through study and experimentation. Inventiveness reflects God-given human creativity (Exodus 31:1-11).
what is a control
A part of the experiment that remains unchanged to serve as a reference.
what is inductive reasoning
Building general premises from specific observations.
what is volume
The amount of space an object takes up. The Lord sets bounds for all created things (Psalm 104:9)
what is a model
A drawing, computer animation, or other representation that helps visualize something. Models are limited glimpses of God's perfect heavenly designs (1 Corinthians 13:12).
what is engineering
The application of scientific and mathematical principles to develop practical solutions. Skills used for engineering come from God (Exodus 31:3).
what is a variable
A part of the experiment that is intentionally changed.
what is an experimental group
The part of an experiment that receives the treatment or condition being tested.
what is atom
The smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element. God upholds all things at the atomic level (Hebrews 1:3).
what is technology
The application of science for practical purposes to benefit humanity.
what is a hypothesis
A proposed explanation for an observation that can be tested. We have a limited human perspective compared to God's infinite knowledge (Isaiah 55:8-9).
what is qualitative data
Descriptive observations about characteristics.
what is a control group
The part of the experiment that does not receive the treatment, for comparison.
what is an element?
A substance made up of only one type of atom. The diversity of elements reflects God's creative nature (Genesis 1:31).
what is applied research
Scientific study directed toward solving real-world problems. We are called to seek practical solutions that show love (1 Corinthians 13:2)
what is a theory
A well-tested explanation for a broad set of observations. Scientific theories are subject to revision as new evidence emerges (Proverbs 4:18).
what is a quantitative data
Numerical measurements and counts.
what is a scientific question
A question about the natural world that can be answered through investigation. All truth is God's truth (Psalm 19:7).
