After the pennies were cleaned with the salt and vinegar solution, their weight went down by 2 grams, that means the weight of the solution went up by 2 grams. The weight of the solution is now 17 grams because the particles went from on the pennies to being diluted in the solution. The mass of the salt and vinegar solution and dirty pennies is conversed not lost.
