Name 5 changes from DP to BDSP not including the graphics.

  • Fairy Type exists, along with the type matchup changes that have happened since (basically just Steel losing it's Dark and Ghost resistance) HP Bars go down quicker.

  • Moves from later games exist

  • You get multiple TMs from NPCs instead of just one, and all(?) TMs are renewable

  • The Experience system is the same as in Sword/Shield: all Pokemon gain Experience every battle (full experience if they participated, half experience if they didn't), and the amount you get scales based on if your level is higher or lower than the opponent's (higher level=less experience, and vice versa). You also gain Exp for catching Pokemon. People have found this makes you significantly higher level through the game than in the originals.

  • Boss trainers have better movesets and late-game they EV train, making the Elite Four pretty formidable. There are post-game rematches with Gym Leaders/Elite Four/Barry/Lucas/Dawn that are similarly strong.

  • Two Mythicals are available early in the story if you have save data for Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee and Sword/Shield (only one of each pair necessary; each pair unlocks one Mythical)

  • Underground has changed. You can catch Pokemon down there in special rooms, including some that aren't normally available in Sinnoh (mostly Platinum expansion Pokemon, but not all of them). Secret Base decoration is now just statues, and these statues influence your chance of finding Pokemon matching the statue Pokemon's type. Spritomb now requires you to speak to NPCs in the Underground rather than real players. I've not seen anyone talking about Capture the Flag but I think that's been removed too?

  • Super Contests have been significantly changed. It's pretty much just the dance round now, but a rhythm game rather than call-and-response. Dressup rating is replaced by rating how well the ball customization matches the category. Acting rating is replaced by rating how effectively you time the one move you're allowed.

  • There's a few new bugs not in the originals. Most notably Snowpoint Gym you can get stuck, so turn off auto-save and save outside of it before attempting. Also, there's a swim-on-land bug that can get you to similar areas that Tweaking can in the originals. These will probably be patched.

  • Speaking of patches, if you get the physical version and don't patch it at all, you only have access to the game from starter to Cynthia. Ramanas Park and the postgame island are blocked off. Doesn't necessarily affect much today since the patches are available, but if you care about what's on-cart for preservation purposes, that's what's there.

  • Game Corner removed, replaced with a clothing store. You can customize your trainer's outfit.

  • You can choose from four versions of each player character at the beginning of the game. Unlike some games, though, you're stuck with the skin/eye/hair color you choose at the beginning, so only choose one you're completely happy with.

  • You can choose a Pokemon in your party to follow you at any time after you've been to Amity Square once.
