These are citations at the bottom of each page they are referenced on.
What are footnotes?
This includes all referenced works in the paper, as well as works consulted, but not cited directly, that influenced the paper.
What is a bibliography?
The title of your paper, your name, class, and date should appear on this page.
What is the title page?
When citing in a bibliography, the author's name should appear like this.
What is last name, first name?
The UVU writing center handout, writing tutors, Purdue OWL, Chicago manual of style (available through the UVU library online), etc. are all a type of this.
What are Chicago-style resources?
These mark in-text citations and correspond to a footnote or endnote.
What are superscript numbers?
Entries are always listed in this order.
What is alphabetical?
What is 12 pt font and double spaced?
Information appears in this order in citations.
What is the author, title, and facts of publication?
While not a part of Chicago style formatting, Dr. Weeks will still be looking for this at the beginning of your research paper.
What is the header?
Footnotes use primarily this punctuation to separate information within the citation.
What are commas?
Bibliography entries use primarily this punctuation to separate information within the citation.
What are periods?
Page numbers can be in one of these four places.
What is centered or flush right in the header or centered or flush right in the footer?
Titles in citations are always capitalized in this way.
What is headline-style?
This citation style is the little sister of Chicago style.
What is Turabian?
Superscript in-text citations should be placed here in order to reference cited material (paraphrases, quotes, etc.)
What is after the final punctuation mark?
All entries are formatted with this indentation.
Footnotes should be formatted in this way.
What is single-spaced?
These are enclosed in parentheses.
What are the facts of publication in notes?
These are not necessary in Chicago guidelines, but are often included.
What are access dates?
Used when a source has been cited within the notes at least once.
What is a shortened note?
All entries in the bibliography should be spaced in this way.
What is single spaced with an extra space between entries?
What is a block quote?
This is enclosed in quotation marks in a citation.
What is the title of a smaller work within a large work?
This latin phrase is no longer used in Chicago footnotes for a perviously referenced source.
What is "ibid"?
