What do you do if a voter is not listed in the pollbook?

Perform a county-wide search to make sure the voter is registered. If the voter is in the wrong precinct, give them the correct precinct information. If the voter is not in the pollbook, call the Registrars' office.

Yes, however, they must keep their distance and not interfere with the voting process

A voter comes in and presents a picture of their ID from their gallery on their phone. Is this an acceptable form of ID?

No, the only form of ID a voter can present from their phone is from the Virginia Mobile ID app.

Once polls have closed, do you have to wait until all tapes have been printed to start completing the Election Night Results?

No! Once the first tape has been printed, you should start filling out the ENR form and send in the results as soon as possible.

A voter complains that you are infringing on their Constitutional Rights when you ask for their ID. How do you handle this? 

Notify the Chief, explain that it is required by law, and if they refuse to provide ID, give them an ID Confirmation statement to fill out

A summary receipt can be printed off one pollpad; this will have the combined number of voters checked in. Do not take numbers from the top of the pollpad, as those numbers are only what has been checked in on that pad.

Same Day Registration (SDR) and the voter was issued an absentee ballot, but does not have the ballot to surrender

Are members of the press allowed inside the precinct?

Yes, however, they must ask the Chief for permission before photographing or filming inside the precinct. They may not photograph or film any voters without permission

A voter goes through the process of being checked in, receives their ballot, and decides that they do not want to vote (they have made no marks on the ballot). What do you do?

Uncheck the voter from the pollpad and give the ballot back to the Ballot Officer

When scanning a driver's license, what steps should you take to ensure the right voter is being checked in?

Confirm the name on their driver's licence matches the voter you are clicking on. The pollbook is more of a search engine and may not pull the correct person when scanning a driver's license.

A voter is being checked in and has an "Address Confirmation" next to their name, and they have moved. Where can you find information for the next steps?

When a voter inserts a ballot and the machine does not spit the ballot out but starts beeping, what is the issue? 

This is a blank ballot; ask the voter to choose whether to cast ballot or return ballot. Remember, DO NOT push the button, let the voter perform the task.

As a Chief, what are your steps if there is a non-life-threatening event where it is necessary to evacuate the precinct?

Take note of the public counter number on the voting machine. Make sure OOE's refer to their emergency go cards. Ensure all voters and staff evacuate the building and meet at the pre-determined designated location.

Are voters allowed to use their cellphones in the voting booth?

Yes, as long as they do not disturb, hinder, or intimidate other voters
