Explain the Day of Atonement.

First, the high priest would offer a burnt offering for himself and then sprinkle blood of the sacrifice on the altar. 

The next step involved two goats. The first goat would be sacrificed for the sins of the people. The blood of the first goat would be sprinkled onto the altar as well. The second goat was brought before the camp and the high priest would lay his hand on it and pray for the sins of the people. The sins of the people would be symbolically transferred onto the goat and then the goat would be released into the wilderness. 

The Day of Atonement is the day where God forgives all the sins of Israel. Especially since the sacrifices didn't cover every sin of the people.

Mephibosheth is cripple who is also a natural enemy of David. However, he is also the so of Jonathan, David's friend who helped David escape. Therefore, remembering Jonathan, David shows kindness to Mephibosheth and adopting him as a son.

In the same way, we are also natural enemies of God due to sin. However, because of the finished work of Jesus, those who believe and follow Jesus are adopted into the sonship of God.
