Keep him safe and try to keep him away from any triggers.

Offer a different activity, like a walk or drive to the park to cool down.

How do you sign for a PRN in the MARS?

Initial PRN, turn to the back. Add the medication name and dosage. State the reasoning for giving the PRN. Add date and time given.

Add results later in the shift (with date and time). Inform on coming staff if they need to add results if this occurs after your shift.

Keep Dylan safe. Try to keep him from hurting himself on anything jagged, by utilizing pillows/safety equipment.

Explain to Dylan that you need to change him so he is clean but allow him a minute to cool down and finish whatever he is watching.

Try again in 15 mins after he is calm.

Be patient with Matthew, and understand his perspective/feelings.

Encourage Matthew to drink water.

Try to find a way to get Matthew to do some exercise. Play some Just Dance on the Wii or start playing some fun music.

Checking to see if he is wet, having a snack/drink, listening to country music, watching his favorite shows, offering a PRN for pain.

Validate her emotions but limit discussion as much as possible. Remain positive with answers.

See if Doris is able to have her PRN if she shows enough signs of stress.

Keep some distance between yourself, her and Kathleen for safety. Remind Doris she is doing well at being safe.

Linda has $20 of personal spending money. She really needs some new socks as hers have gotten worn, but she really has been wanting to order Chinese food for dinner with her money.

How would you help Linda run her SODAs program?

Explain the disadvantages of not being able to afford the new socks. Remind her that she likely will go out soon with family for lunch, so she could still have a good meal later in the week and still get her socks. Allow Linda the independence to make her own assessment of the situation.

You are about to move a participant using a Hoyer from their bed to their chair. Where do you have the participant’s head positioned on the sling?

The participant’s head should be positioned at the top of the sling, as high as comfortable to allow them to be comfortably moved.

If you go too low, you could obstruct the airway of the person because their head is not elevated enough.
