Camera Shots
If a character is in this type of shot, you can see their whole body.
What is a long shot?
A stationary camera moves from side to side on a horizontal axis.
What is pan?
The most common camera angle because it is natural.
What is eye level?
cut to an object, then to a person; can reveal a character’s thoughts
What is eye-line match?
Type of lighting that makes the subject appear dangerous or evil.
What is bottom or side lighting?
The image being shot is a part of a whole.
What is an extreme close up?
A stationary camera moves up or down along a vertical axis.
What is tilt?
Camera angle used to make characters appear larger.
What is a low angle?
cut into action that is happening simultaneously; creates tension or suspense and creates a connection between scenes
What is cross-cutting?
Type of lighting that gives a character the appearance of innocence or goodness.
What is front or back lighting?
The image takes up 80% of the frame.
What is a close up?
The camera is over the action to create overhead shots.
What is a boom/crane?
The camera angle that can make a character look trapped, weak, or powerless.
What is a high angle?
a shot of one subject, then another, then back to the first; often used for conversation or reaction shots
What is shot-reverse-shot?
the scene is flooded with shadows and darkness
What is low-key lighting?
The most common shot; used to ground a story.
What is a medium shot?
The camera is allowed to move with the action.
What is dolly/tracking?
Sound that can reasonably be heard by characters in the scene, such as dialogue.
What is diegetic sound?
one image is gradually replaced by another
What is dissolve?
Type of lighting that creates a bright, open-looking scene.
What is high key lighting?
A scene that emphasizes the relationship between characters.
What is a two shot?
This technique can be used during a personal or revealing moment by moving in.
What is zoom?
Sound designed solely for the audience.
What is a non-diegetic sound?
Can be to or from black and white; implies the passing of time or the end of a scene
What is fade?
A halo effect can be created by using this type of lighting.
