To put a quote in your own words.

It goes BEFORE your quote. It is the FIRST thing you do when citing.

How do you cite something if it doesn't have a page number but has author name?
Last name with no page number in the parentheses!

Why would you choose to paraphrase instead of quoting?
If the quote is very long, if you wanted to the quote to fit the way that you speak as an author/writer
If you already used the authors name in your lead in or signal phrase do you need to still put it in the (parentheses)?
Technically no! But it doesn't hurt!
Ex. Dr. Seuss said "I do not like Green Eggs and Ham" (pg. 31) COULD WORK but so could Dr. Seuss said "I do not like Green Eggs and Ham" (Seuss, pg. 31)

Include quotations around the quote:

Why are lead in or signal phrases important?
They give you context, they introduce the quote

Yes! It is still the exact words just wrote in a different format and there is no citation crediting the author.
