Scientists will start with a question and make a hypothesis to answer that question. It is what they predict will happen. What they guess is going to happen during the experiment. 

An observation is something they notice during the experiment. The observation helps the scientist make a conclusion. A conclusion is the result or what actually happened during the experiment and what the scientist learned from it.
