In January Jane slips on black ice in front of a fire station. In result, Jane's right ankle is fractured. Her physician informers her that she will have to be in a cast for approximately 3 months. This causes Jane to be unable to walk unsupported and unable to drive. Furious over the injury she has sustained, Jane sues the city of New York. The verdict that was called at the Court of Claims trail court did not meet Jane's expectations. Infact she believes that the case was ruled unfairly, so she appeals to her designated Appellate Division. Here they do not revise her case for a retrial. Jane then appeals to the highest court for New York State.
