How did Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks differ, and why did Rosa Parks become the face of the bus boycott and a symbol of the civil rights movement instead of Claudette Colvin?

Rosa Parks was an adult who worked as a secretary for the NAACP, and her arrest helped launch the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old student, actually refused to give up her seat months before Parks did, simply because she believed it was wrong. But because she was so young, didn’t have the same public support, and later became pregnant, she didn’t become the face of the movement. Still, both of them were brave and helped push the fight against segregation forward.
