What was the Missouri Compromise of 1820?
The Missouri Compromise of 1820 was created by Henry Clay, and its main goal was help maintain the balance between Free and Slave States. They did this by admitting Missouri into the Union as a slave state and creating Maine (originally part of Massachusetts) as a free state. It also established the 36´30 line, which dictated where slavery was an wasn´t allowed.
