The key tenet of Mo Di's philosophy was Universal Love or Inclusive Caring. Explain what this was and why the Confucians so vociferously condemned it.
This means loving all human beings - regardless of your personal, family or professional relationship to them - equally.

The Wei official, Ximen Bao, was remembered for his famous incorruptibility. Consider this quote attributed to him in addressing Marquis Wen of Wei:

Last year, I governed Ye for my lord, and my lord wanted to revoke my seal. This year, I changed my method and governed Ye for your courtiers, and my lord thanks me. I can no longer continue governing in this way. Please allow me to resign.

Can you fill in the gaps in this story?

His first year, he governed his province frugally, helped the people of his district and there was no money for "kickbacks" to the corrupt court officials whom he reported to. So, after the report, the Marquis wished to fire him, but he begged for, and received, a 2nd chance.

His second year he fleeced his district's citizens with high taxes and used them to pay off the corrupt court officials; these, of course gave a glowing report to the Marquis, which led to this famous exchange.

Which philosopher asserted these seemingly paradoxical sentiments to his own greater theory?

Consider a state that is cruel and destructive, and suppose a sage, intending to rid the world of evil, raises an army to eradicate and punish it, and he triumphs. And then because he is using [another philosopher's] methods, he issues orders to his soldiers, saying: “Do not pursue those who are fleeing; do not shoot at those who are trapped; help those in retreat to drag their heavy carts.” Then those who are cruel and destructive will hold on to life and the harm to the world will not be done away with. This is to act in a way that is damaging and destructive to parents and deeply detrimental to ordinary people.
