What is the first thing you do when you arrive to school?
Report to the gym or homeroom class IMMEDIATELY.
What should you do when you need to use the restroom?
We use the restroom as a class at our designated time, other visits ONLY IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY -- you then go quickly and return quickly
If you leave the classroom with permission, what do you do when you return to the classroom but the door is closed?
Knock hard 2-3 times to be heard in the classroom, but DO NOT pound on the door or knock incessantly -- understand it may take a minute for the door to open
You are not feeling well, what should you do?
Raise your hand, ask Mrs. Melson to go to the nurse, take the pass with you, and return quickly when finished
List some of the expectations for lunchtime.
1. Stand in line quietly while waiting to get your lunch
2. Clean up after yourself (table & floor)
3. Speak with a calm, quiet voice to the people around you
4. Ensure you have what you need before you sit down, remain seated until your class is dimsissed
5. SIT AT YOUR ASSIGNED TABLE, DO NOT ASK TO SIT SOMEWHERE ELSE
What you should do when you first enter this class daily?
Sit down, get out needed supplies and be quiet
You have finished all your work for Mrs. Melson, what are some things you can do if class is not over?
1. Work on assignments from another class
2. Read a book quietly
3. Help a classmate complete assignments quietly
4. Work on extra credit (when assigned)
Where do you put the finished work that you complete on paper?
The rainbow tower at the back of the room in the drawer that is for my class period/day
You finished your school library book and would like to get a new one. When are you allowed to go?
For the most part, library books will be taken care of through your ELA class. Otherwise, speak with your homeroom teacher about when you might be able to go
You notice trash on the floor that isn't yours. What should you do?
Pick it up and throw it away - don't leave it for Mrs Melson or the custodians to pick it up!!!
Describe how you should transition from activity to activity OR move into groups
Quickly and quietly turn in assignments if needed, move quickly to the next location, and be quiet for instructions
What should you do if the 8th-grade bathroom is closed?
We will quietly go as a class to the 600 hall restroom, which is down past the lunchroom
What should you do if you need a pencil or other school supply?
Raise your hand and ask for the needed item -- DO NOT GO INTO Mrs. Melson's cabinet unless specifically given permission
You need to use the restroom while we are at lunch. What should you do?
Ask the teacher with whom you went to lunch, use the restrooms on the 600 hall while at lunch, DO NOT return to the 8th-grade restrooms during lunch please
What should you put on any assignment you do on paper?
Your NAME, otherwise you will get a 1% for that assignment
List at least four things you can do while waiting for class to begin
1. Read the whiteboard for needed information
2. Work on the GET STARTED assignment
3. Work on any other SC History assignment not yet complete
4. Sit in your assigned seat and talk QUIETLY
5. Sharpen your pencil, if needed
6. Get lined paper, if needed
7. Turn in any completed forms/assignments
8. Read a book
What should you do to show you are ready to be dismissed?
Clean up, pack up, sit quietly at your desk until dismissed or your bus/name is called
Describe how we work in small groups in this classroom
Quickly select groups OR get into assigned groups, listen quietly for instructions, be on task and work on the assignment at all times, if it is a group response ensure that all group names are on it
Describe how you should walk through the hallways.
Quietly and calmly with your hands at your side. Stay on the right side of the hallway for other classes/people to pass you.
Where should your cell phone be during the school day?
Your phone should remain in your backpack, bag or pocket on silent everyday at school. Your phone should not be taken out during class, when you are in the restroom or any other time in the hallways or classrooms for any reason.
Describe how we prepare to go to the restroom, lunch, the library, or anywhere outside our classroom
Pack up if needed, line up quietly, walk quietly on the right side of the hallway, and arrive at our destination quietly
What should you do when the fire alarm rings or during a fire drill?
Quickly and quietly stand up and get in line. Walk quietly through the hallway to the doors by the 8th-grade restrooms, and line up next to the basketball court. Stand silently in line and wait calmly and patiently until we can return to class. Walk quietly and calmly back into the classroom and wait for instructions
You find something on the floor and you're not sure who it belongs to or what it is. What should you do?
Politely ask who it belongs to, if not claimed place it in the "Lost and Found" container
Whenever you are outside of the classroom, what do you need to make sure you have with you?
A pass from the teacher with whom you should be that period, BUT it will not be very often that you will leave my classroom
What should you be doing during independent reading or work time?
Remain in your seat, reading or working quietly on the assignment, raise your hand if you have questions or need something
