The first thing you do when you arrive to school
Get breakfast if you want it.
What should you do when you need to use the restroom?
Get permission, grab a buddy, sign out on the form - only during independent or group work time unless it is an emergency
You bring a note or paper from home. Where should you put it?
In the bin on Miss Joyce's desk that says "notes to Miss Joyce"
What should you do if the 5th grade bathroom is closed?
List some of the expectations for lunchtime.
1. Stay in your seat unless you have permission to get up
2. Clean up after yourself (table & floor)
3. Speak with a calm, quiet voice to the people around you
4. Wait your turn in line if you are buying lunch
5. Raise your hand if you need something from the cafeteria staff
What you should do when you to class in the morning
Wait calmly and patiently outside the classroom door to be greeted by Miss Joyce or another teacher
What should you do when recess is over?
Immediately begin cleaning up all equipment and line up with our class quickly to be ready to walk through the building
Where do you put finished work that has a T (turn-in) on it?
In the turn-in bin on the counter by Miss Joyce's desk
You finished your school library book and would like to get a new one. When are you allowed to go and what should you do?
During morning work time with a buddy quickly and quietly or wait until our class library time.
You notice trash on the floor that isn't yours. What should you do?
Pick it up and throw it away - don't leave it for Miss Joyce or the custodians to pick it up!!!
List at least four things you should do when you enter the classroom
1. Place take home folder and laptop on desk
2. Read the morning message
3. Put lunchbox/snack in assigned spot
4. Place backpack on hook
5. Mindfully get a chair and put it at your desk
6. Make sure you have 3 sharpened pencils and any other materials you may need for the day
7. Turn in any forms/notes to Miss Joyce's notes bin
8. Morning work/read
What should you do when the fire alarm rings and during a fire drill?
Quickly and quietly stand up, push chair in, and get in line. Walk quietly through the hallways to our assigned spot outside. Stand facing away from the school silently, respond to attendance with your own name, and wait calmly and patiently until we can return to class. Walk quietly and calmly back into the classroom and wait for instructions
What should you do if you need a pencil or other school supply?
Hold it up to let Miss Joyce know and then quietly find the correct bin in the cubbies, get your new supply material, and return to your seat quickly and quietly.
You need to use the restroom while we are at recess. What should you do?
Get a buddy, ask for permission from a teacher to go, go to the door and press the button that lets the main office know you need to enter the building. Go to the bathroom by the cafeteria quickly and quietly. Let the teacher know when you return to recess
What do you need to make sure you have when the class leaves for specials?
Specials folder, instrument (if ensemble day), lunch box (if bringing lunch), water bottle, recess equipment
What you do when you hear the music playing in the morning
Clean up whatever you were working on and get ready for morning meeting
What should you do to show you are ready to be dismissed?
Clean up, pack up, stack up then sit quietly on the rug or your desk until your transportation mode has been called
Who is responsible for gathering or passing out materials to your table group?
Table captains
Describe how you should walk through the hallways.
Quietly and calmly with your hands at your side. Stay to the right for other classes/people to pass you.
What is expected of you during partner or group work time?
Staying on topic, completing the task, sharing ideas, working respectfully together
Describe how you should move from your desk to the morning meeting area.
Stand up, grab chair and walk quietly and calmly to morning meeting spot, sit until everyone is ready to start
