What do you do when you want to talk in class?

By raising you hand quietly until you are called on.

What do you do when you first come in to class every day?

Put your breakfast on your desk, put your Blue folder in the Green basket, hang up your bookbag.  Go to your seat quietly and eat your breakfast quietly.  Next, look at Smart Board for your first assignment (Question of the Day).

How do we line up for recess, specials, lunch, and restroom breaks?

Wait to be called, walk quietly to line. Face forward, no talking.  Line up in classroom number order.

What do you do if you have a question when the teacher is at small group?

Ask 3 before me! Ask 3 friends for help before asking the teacher.  Do not interrupt unless it is very important.

Stop what I'm doing, look at Mrs. Trent and say, "Yes, yes."

What does work time sound like?

Level 0, unless you have permission to talk, then level 1.

In your seat or on the carpet, unless Mrs. Trent has given permission to sit somewhere else in the classroom.

What do you do if you finish your work early? 

Thumbs up to the teacher and wait for her to check your work.  You may read a book.

What should I do if I don't have a pencil?

Quietly ask your table partners if you can borrow a pencil.  Or quietly and quickly get one from the pencil dispenser on the mailboxes.

How can you show the speaker that you are giving them your full attention?

Give 5...ears listening, eyes watching, hands and feet are still, mouth closed.

How do students respect other students things?

By not touching them or destroying them. If you want to borrow something or look at something, you need to ask nicely first. If they say no, respect their answer and ask someone else.

When can I use the bathroom?

When the whole class takes a bathroom break.  On the way to lunch, recess and specials.  If an emergency you may go during independent work time, not during Mrs. Trent's instruction time. You still need to ask the teacher before you go.

How many people should ask to go to the bathroom at one time?

Only two!

How do we act at small group table? What do you do when it's not your turn with the Teacher at small groups?

You are working in your center independently or with a small group.  You sit nicely in your chair, do small group work together, using your inside voice.

When can I sharpen my pencil?

Never, unless the teacher instructs you to.  Mrs. Trent will have plenty of sharpened pencils for you on top of the mail boxes.  You may trade one in only when necessary.

How does our class enter the cafeteria for lunch?

Door #2, walking and quiet voices.

What should you do if the fire alarm goes off?

Quickly Freeze and move toward the door to exit the building, walking feet and voice level at 0.  Follow Mrs. Trent to the blacktop area.

How can you be a kind friend during class?

Taking turns, hands and feet to self, using nice words, including others in your group discussions, etc.

By listening to them, taking turns sharing, using nice words, and safe bodies.

How do we line up to leave the room?

Wait until you are asked to line up, then walk to the line quietly. Line up in classroom number order, face forward and ready to move.

Walk in quietly and sit in your seat, wait for instructions from Mrs. Trent.

What do you when you hear Lock Down, Lock Down, Lock Down?

Go directly to our lock down space in the library and sit very quietly.  Do not run or scream.  Voice level 0 at all times during the Lock Down.

What should you do if you hear someone speaking on the intercom?

Stop all talking and listen to any announcements, helping others to hear what is being said.
