What do you do when you want to talk in class?

By raising your hand quietly until you are called on.

What do you do for when there is an emergency in the  classroom?

Follow all of Ms. Haynes directions. Put your head down at your table and be SILENT if appropriate and instructed to do so.

What can we do at recess?

Eat snack, talk with friends, play games and other hands off play with friends.

What do you do if you have a question when the teacher is at small group?

Ask 3 before me! Ask 3 friends for help before asking the teacher.

Explain what you should do when Ms. Haynes rings the chimes, doorbell or (heaven forbid) the cowbell... 

Stop what you're doing, look at Ms. Haynes and stop talking.  Silent room to hear next directions.

Read a book, go on to the next activity you have been assigned or work on iReady.

What should I do if I don't have a pencil?

Go get one from the recycle bin or quietly ask your table partners if you can borrow a pencil.

How can you show the speaker that you are giving them your full attention?

You make eye contact and are not talking. Give 5...ears listening, eyes watching, hands and feet are still, mouth closed.

How do students respect other students things?

By not touching them or destroying them. If you want to borrow something or look at something, you need to ask nicely first. If they say no, respect their answer and ask someone else.

When can I use the bathroom?

During work time, not during lesson time. You still need to ask the teacher before you go. Sign out and take the pass.  Only one student at a time.  Unless it is an emergency.

How many people should be in the bathroom at one time?

How do we act at small group table? What do you do when it's not your turn at small group?

You sit appropriately in your chair, do small group work together, then walk back to your desk. 

If it's not your turn at small group, you're reading, doing work or working on iReady quietly at your desk.

How should the room look at the end of the day?

Like a scout, leave it better than you found it. Everything should be in your desk, pencils in your pouch, paper picked up from the floor.

How do you know what to work on at the start of class?

Look at the slide on the TV screen.

When can I sharpen my pencil?

During worktime. Not during teaching or lesson time.

Where can you turn in your work?

In the In Basket on the "entertainment center."

What should you do if you are absent?

Take all the papers out of the Absent Folder on your desk. Ask one of your classmates what you need to do, then check in with Ms. Haynes during a non-lesson or teaching time.

Where do you go for a fire drill?

Out the door quietly and quickly.  Straight to the grass area near the fence behind our classroom.  Line up silently in number order and wait for teacher to take attendance.

How can you respect others?

By listening to them, having patience with each other, taking turns sharing, using nice words, and practicing self space.

Fancy restaurant whisper and only when given permission during work time.

How do we walk back into the room?

Walk in quietly and sit in your seat, look to the TV screen for instructions on what to do first.

What do you have to do when given permission and have a pass to leave the classroom?

Go directly to the place/person you have permission to go to, have your pass signed, then come right back to class as soon as you're done.

What should you do if you hear someone speaking on the intercom?

Stop all talking and listen to any announcements, helping others to hear what is being said.
