Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month is an annual experience that educates about, highlights community agencies and exposes students at USF to the social services for this many homeless people in Hillsborough County according to the 2013 homeless count.
What is is 2,275 (944 living on the street; 387 in emergency shelters; 578 transitional housing and 366 in jail; another 12,843 are living in homes with family/friends or in motels due to economic factors)? ***FYI—this is a 47% decline from the 2011 homeless count that reported 17,755 homeless persons in Hillsborough county; 7336 living on the streets; 10,424 living in homes with family/friends.
