Nobles owned the land.

Serfs worked the land that the nobles owned.  Serfs often could not leave the land – they were in some ways property of the lord of the manor.

Nobles lived in a castle or home (usually made of stone).

Serfs lived in small huts outside the castle.

Nobles could enjoy meat and delicacies.

Serfs’ food came mostly from what they grew themselves.

Nobles were allowed to wear brightly coloured clothing and rich fabrics.

Serfs wore dull colours and rough fabrics.  Serfs did not own much clothing.
