What do you do with a malfunctioning pace maker?
Deactivate it with a magnet located on top of the crash cart.
Who can restart fluids that have meds combined with it?
The nurse or occasionally the doctor.
What should you do before you intubate?
Hyperventilate the pt
Your PAS comes back and tells you that there is a pt with chest pain and SOB what should you do?
Immediately get the pt and perform an EKG even in if they are not on the board yet (we only have 10 minutes from the time they walk in to get an EKG)
Where can you find suction?
On the wall or the portable suction is located in X-ray
When should you intubate?
Less than 8 intubate. This is based on Glascow coma scale.
What is the first thing you should do after mixing a medication bag?
Label it with the medication name, dosage, rate, and date/time.
Where can you put an IO?
Humeral head, and tibial tuberosity.
How many IVs should you have in the pt?
2 large bore
What drawer in the crash cart are the meds located?
The 3rd drawer.
Before beginning compressions what should you have under your pt?
The back board
What is the initial dose and the subsequent dose for amiodarone
300mg loading dose and 150mg each dose after wards
In what circumstances will a chest xray be done?
After intubation or chest tube insertion.
A code situation occurs what is the first thing you should ask your PAS?
Did you call Republic?/Please call Republic.

In the binder on top of the cart.
What is the weight and age limit for pediatric pads?
up to 8 years or under 55 pounds or 25 kilos.
Dose of Epi and how often?
1 mg every 3-5 minutes.
What do you do in the event of a vent failure on an intubated pt?

Hold up broselow chart to pt and find the one that most closely matches.

What should you do if you can't find the pediatric pads for defibrillation?
Use adult pads placing one in the center of the chest and one on their back parallel to the front.
When would you give Adenosine?
SVT
How many seconds does a provider have in an intubation attempt before starting over and hyperventilating the pt again?
10 seconds. If you notice that a provider is taking longer than 10 seconds please remind them that it has been 10 seconds since the pt was hyperventilated.
