100

vasovagal response

sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure, leading to fainting, often triggered by stress, pain, or standing too quickly

100

GCS eye response

relates to how awake and alert you are. ranked 1-4
100

intraocular pressure

pressure inside eye controlled by the flow of aqueous humor. maintains eye shape and function.

100

amblyopia

A condition where vision in one or both eyes is reduced because the brain favors one eye over the other, often due to strabismus or uncorrected vision problems.

100

impacted cerumen

accumulation of cerumen causing blockage of ear canal. causes hearing loss ear fullness or pressure, earache, tinnitis (ringing), dizziness or balance issues. can be removed by healthcare provider, over the counter eardrops, or irrigation.

200

autonomic dysreflexia

potentially life threatening condition in individuals with spinal cord injuries, causing dangerously high spike in blood pressure due to overstimulation of the autonomic nervous system

200
GCS verbal

tests how well certain brain abilities work like thinking, memory, attention span, and awareness. ranked 1-5

200

glaucoma

condition that damages the optic nerve, due to problems with fluid drainage in the eye. Can lead to vision loss and blindness if untreated.

200

nystagmus

Involuntary, repetitive eye movements that can affect vision and depth perception, often caused by neurological conditions or inner ear problems.

200

otitis externa (swimmer's ear)

Infection or inflammation of the external auditory canal, often due to bacteria or fungi.

Causes: Water exposure (swimming, bathing). Mechanical injury (scratching, use of cotton swabs). Allergies or skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis)

Symptoms:Itching in the ear canal. Pain or tenderness, especially when touching the ear or pulling the earlobe. Redness or swelling in the ear canal. Discharge (clear, yellow, or pus-like). TREATMENT: Ear drops (antibiotic or antifungal), Pain relief (acetaminophen or ibuprofen), Avoid water exposure and scratching

300

postural hypotension

condition where blood pressure drops significantly when standing from sitting position or lying position, leading to dizziness or fainting

300

GCS Motor

how well your brain can control muscle movement. Can show if there are any issues with the connections between your brain and the rest of your body. Ranked 1-6

300

Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma (POAG)

The most common type of glaucoma. It happens when the drainage system doesn’t work properly and leads to gradual increases in eye pressure. It is usually painless and progresses slowly.

300

strabismus

A misalignment of the eyes where they do not work together properly, leading to issues with depth perception and sometimes double vision.

300
barotrauma

pain or discomfort in the ear accompanied by hearing loss, pressure, and possible ear bleeding or rupture. Caused by rapid ascent or descent (airplane scuba diving)

400

ischemic stroke

results from blockage (clot)

400

conductive hearing loss

hearing loss caused by problems in the outer or middle ear that prevent sound waves from reaching inner ear

400

Angle-Closure Glaucoma

serious form of glaucoma. Occurs when the drainage angle of the eye becomes blocked. Symptoms include severe eye pain, blurry vision, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. It requires immediate treatment.

400

myopia

(Nearsightedness) A condition where the eye is too long, making distant objects look blurry while close objects remain clear.

400

otosclerosis

Causes: Genetic factors (familial pattern). More common in women and may worsen during pregnancy. Symptoms:Gradual hearing loss, particularly in low frequencies.Tinnitus. Difficulty hearing in noisy environments. Management: Hearing aids to amplify sound. Surgery (stapedectomy, removal of the affected bone). In some cases, a prosthetic device to replace the stapes

500

hemorrhagic stroke

involves bleeding into/around the brain. associated with a higher mortality rate, more immediately dangerous due to increased intracranial pressure (ICP)

500

sensorineural hearing loss

due to damage to the inner ear (cochlea) or auditory nerve pathways

500

hyperopia

(Farsightedness) A condition where the eye is too short, making near objects look blurry, while distant objects may still be clear.

500

astigmatism

A condition where the cornea has an uneven shape, causing blurry or distorted vision at all distances.

500

tinnitus

ringing in the ear. caused by impacted earwax, presbycusis, hypertension, atherosclerosis, head injury, etc.
