What time do CMS doors open in the morning?

  • Do not arrive before 7:20 AM

As stated in your signed contract, cell phones are to be turned off and in backpacks from 7:20-2:15.

What type of deodorant is allowed in school? what is not allowed in school?

No.

Body Sprays/Perfume: Not allowed at school due to allergies

Weapons:   Any student in possession of a firearm, a knife of any kind, any dangerous weapon (including “nunchucks”, “throwing stars”, BB guns, pellet guns, paintball guns, etc.) or explosive devices will be subject to  disciplinary action up to and including Emergency Removal.  This includes toys that look like weapons.

Sharpies/ Permanent Markers: Students are not permitted to have sharpies or permanent markers at school.  Teachers will provide them if they are necessary for a school project.

Body Sprays/Perfume: Not allowed at school due to allergies

Certain drugs at school are OK to have?

  • All medication must be dispensed through the nurse with a Medication Authorization signed by a doctor. This includes cough drops.

  • Students may carry epipens and inhalers if they have a health plan on file

  • Students may not carry medication with them or give it to anyone else at school

  • Parents/guardians may bring medication to school and give it to their student

What time must you leave campus by?

  • walking /biking - leave campus by 2:25. Don’t cut through parking lot.

  • Bus - follow all staff and driver directions

  • Car rider- let the cars pull all the way up along the curb

  • Students may not be in the parking lot without a parent/guardian escort.

If you get your cell phone confiscated (taken away) what are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd consequences? 
  • 1st offense - pick up in office at end of day

  • 2nd offense - adult pick up

  • 3rd offense - adult pick up and consequence


  • Students may not take photos or video of another student or any adult without permission to do so.  Students taking video or photos for a class must follow teacher direction.  

  • Headphones must be out of the ears in common areas

Are allowed to engage in horseplay and mess around with your friends?

  • Fighting, hitting, slapping, punching, kicking, biting, etc. are not tolerated.  

  • Doesn’t matter who started it

  • Fighting back is fighting

  • Police may be contacted. Students may be charged with disorderly conduct, and/or assault.

  • Play-fighting and horseplay are not okay.

What could happen if you get caught with drugs at school?

Possession: The use of, or being under the influence of alcohol or any mood altering, controlled, or illegal substance, or in possession of drug paraphernalia, at school or a school-sponsored event  will result in an infraction, consequences, parent/guardian contact, and possibly police contact. 


Tobacco/Vapes: The sale, use or possession of tobacco or vapes of any kind during the school day on or near school property or during any school-sponsored event is prohibited.  Students who are caught using or in possession of tobacco products will be disciplined.

What is a reasonable request?

  • Give your name (First and Last)

  • Show your hall pass

  • Give truthful information when staff ask (what class are you in, where are you going)

  • Follow instructions to move to the office or CRASH room

  • Leave an area/classroom

  • Follow school rules

  • Hand over your cell phone or other electronic devices if requested by staff

Can you ride another/different bus that is assigned to you?

  • School rules apply on the bus

  • Students are to only ride their regularly assigned bus and leave the bus at their regular stop

  • Any change requires the written permission of a parent/guardian or the principal (or designee)

  •  A student discipline notice will be issued to a student who misbehaves

  • This may include suspension from bus privileges and/or alternate transportation


    • Students are to go directly to their assigned bus when dismissed from school

    • Students will follow school expectations and all staff requests between dismissal time and boarding your assigned bus

How do I know what lunch I have? 

Based off 4th period teacher


Stay in the cafeteria unless you have a pass/permission from staff.

  • Sit during the first 10 minutes of lunch until you are dismissed

  • After 20 minutes, all students will be sent out to the courtyard. 

  • Students may not order in food from outside vendors.  Parents may drop off lunches in the office, but can not come into the cafeteria.  

  • Ask permission from staff member to use the bathroom

  • Use sports equipment safely and appropriately.

Capes, flags, blankets are OK to wear to school?

NO

  • Clothing should not cause a material and substantial disruption to the learning environment.

  • Capes, blankets, and flags are not to be worn at school in a cape like manner

  • Individual teachers have the right to establish specific dress expectations regarding hats and hoods in their classrooms. 


Students may not wear clothing, jewelry, or personal items that:

  • Are pornographic, contain threats, or promote illegal or violent conduct such as the depiction of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia;

  •  Demonstrate hate group association/affiliation and/or use hate speech targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, or other protected groups;

  • Intentionally show private parts--clothing must cover private parts in opaque (not able to be seen-through) material;

Any teacher or staff can search your bag?

  • Administrators can search backpacks and person with reasonable suspicion


    • Skipping class

    • Being in a bathroom stall with other students

    • Leaving campus and returning

    • Breaking school rules or laws

  • The school may search PE lockers at anytime because they are considered school property.

Is CMS an open campus and are students allowed in the parking lots?

  • School rules apply at all school sponsored                              events and on school district property. 

  • CMS is a closed campus

  • Campus opens at 7:20 a.m. and students must leave by 2:25 p.m. unless they are under the direct supervision of a school employee. 

  •  Students are not allowed to leave campus anytime after they are on school grounds until 2:15 unless they are signed out in the office. Students are not allowed in the parking lots during the day.

  • No

  • Cover the student’s face to the extent that the student is not identifiable (except clothing/headgear worn for a religious or medical purpose); or

  • Demonstrate gang association/affiliation. This includes, but is not limited to: bandanas, hanging belts, gloves, mittens, numbered sports jerseys, clothing of one color, extremely low hanging pants or jeans, or groups of students (3 or more) wearing the same color/clothing for the purpose of intimidation. 

  • Sunglasses not allowed to be worn indoors unless medically related or approved by admin as a part of dress-up days, spirit wear, etc.

PDA (public display of affection) is A OK at CMS?

Excessive public displays of affection (PDA), such as kissing and hand holding, are not allowed at school.  Brief hugs are acceptable.

Can the police come to a school to find a student?

CMS does not interfere in police investigations. Law enforcement will follow all laws and protocol around interviewing/contacting students.. CMS administrators will work with law enforcement to contact parents.
