What are SMART goals?
Coach completes all but the last step in a series of tasks, and prompts the learner to do the last. Once learner comprehends this, they are prompted to complete the last 2 steps; and so on until the learner completes the entire sequence independently.
What is Backward Chaining?
Learner is prompted to do the first step in a series of tasks, coach completes the rest. Once learner comprehends the first, they are prompted to complete the first 2 steps; and so on until the learner completes the entire sequence independently.
What is Forward Chaining?
This is the S in the SMART goals framework... we might also say "clear or precise."
What is Specific?
Learner is given the opportunity to complete task with the least amount of assistance necessary. The learner receives more physical prompting as they make an error.

Mase is practicing active listening skills with Jess. Jess will talk to Mase about a professional goal, and Mase will summarize what Jess said, and then check for understanding. They practice this several times until Mase demonstrates excellent active listening skills. This is the instructional method Jess is using.
What is Behavioral Reversal?
This instructional method might involve presenting praise immediately after a child puts away their toys. By offering a reward for the desired behavior, the child will be more likely to perform the same action again in the future.
What is Reinforcement?
