John F. Kennedy
The last president of the Soviet Union from 1990-1991. He believed the Soviet Union should change their political and economic systems and helped end the Cold War.
Mikhail Gorbachev
This organization formed in June of 1961 and consists of 120 members, 18 observer states, and 10 observer organizations. They pushed for equality, defended independent states, and promoted neutrality.
Non-Aligned Movement
In this 1962 event, missiles from the Soviet Union were placed in a country near the United States under permission from Fidel Castro, which made Kennedy place a naval blockade.
Cuban Missile Crisis
President Truman proposed this on March 12, 1947, to give billions of dollars in American Aid to help the nations in Europe. This also attempted to prevent the spread of communism.
Marshall Plan
This person was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Cold War. He attended meetings with Truman and Stalin before siding with the U.S. and forming NATO.
Winston Churchill
These two countries made treaties with the Soviet Union, agreeing to not join any organizations that were hostile to the Soviet Union, and no third parties.
Finland and India
These two countries refused to allow their forces to join either side of the Cold War, promoting military neutrality.

This country had issues with the UK after gaining independence in 1921. They became a republic in 1949 and had relations to NATO, but never joined.

This country had a civil war during the Cold War. There were millions of casualties, and ended in 1949. The two main parties who fought were the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
China
This form of socialist ideology was established after Yugoslavia split from the Soviet Union and worked to overcome economic and political difficulties.

On July 31, 1991, the Soviet Union and the United States signed this treaty. 80% of nuclear weapons were removed under this treaty.

A system of beliefs. During this time, some examples would be the fear of Communism and the spread of Communism itself.

European Union
This organization formed on December 21st, 1991, after the Soviet Union collapsed, and twelve of the former republics joined. The Baltic States refused to join this organization.
Commonwealth of Independent States
These sets of documents signed by President Carter in September of 1978 consisted of Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty, which established Egypt's neutrality through the Cold War and ending the war between Egypt and Israel.
Camp David Accords
This treaty was signed August 5, 1963, by the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and the United States. It prohibits nuclear weapon tests and underground testing was allowed. Radioactive contamination reduced and eased tension.
Limited Test Ban Treaty
Formed on May 14, 1955, this would be the counter to NATO and ensure the protection and security of Communism with the East.
