Cuba became communist, worrying the US. They attacked at the Bay of Pigs, leading Cuba to want protection. The USSR gave them nuclear weapons.

They were papers that explained the Presidents' involvement in the Vietnam War (mostly, that we weren't doing well). This led many to not trust the Presidents.
