Debt collectors must avoid using any methods meant to humiliate or threaten debtors and must uphold fairness and the highest moral standards in all debt collection activities.
Registration as a Debt Collector?
•Involves submitting a registration form to the Debt Council and the payment of the registration fee.
•Once application forms are submitted and payment is made, the collector's details are entered in the Debt Collectors Register.
• Once registered and approved the Council issues a certificate of registration.
•The certificate is renewed on receipt of annual registration fees.
What must Debt collectors always keep at hand?
Debt collector's must at all times keep their registration numbers available.
This will prove that they are in fact debt collectors
A debt collector must respect the debtor's confidentiality and privacy of any information supplied by a debtor and always be factual, truthful and tactful in using such information.

•You can not discuss a debtor's personal information to anyone.
•Ensure to always provide truthful information to the debtor regarding the account.
Example, you cannot advise the debtor we will take legal action if you not certain the we definitely will.
