Degrees
This degree provides a broad background of liberal arts and sciences. It is traditionally designed to transfer towards a bachelor's degree.
What is the Associate of Arts?
An outright award of funds, usually based on need, which does NOT have to be repaid
What is a Grant?
The total number of points per credits hour earned.
What is Grade Point Average (GPA)?
A document of course requirements that instructors give to students on the first day of class.
What is a syllabus?
The place to buy books, supplies, college souvenirs and gifts
What is the Bookstore?
This only requires 40 credits in ten goal areas which is transfers as general education at two and four year public colleges and universities in Minnesota.
What is the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC)?
borrowed funds that MUST be repaid
What is a loan?
The discontinuing of a course after the drop/add period that negatively impacts the student's completion rate and academic progress.

What is Financial aid?
generally requires 4 to 5 years of study, including general education courses, a major and electives.
What is the Bachelor's degree?
Monetary awards given to students in recognition of academic achievement or financial need
What is a Scholarship?
A student failing to meet with the minimum GPA or completion rate.
What is Warning?
Courses not specifically required for graduation.
What is an Elective?
Provides peer and professional tutors, get information about study skills & time management, and learn more about study groups.
What is the Academic Support Center?
Requires 50% general education courses and 50% program specific courses.
What is the Associate of Science?
a part-time job on campus to employ students
What is Work-study?
The calculation of the number of credits completed divided by the number of credits attempted in a semester or overall several semesters.
What is Completion Rate?
A temporary grade which may be given at the instructors discretion to a student when illness, necessary absence, or other reason beyond the control of the student prevent completion of course requirements by the end of the academic term.
What is an Incomplete?
An office to change your address in ARCC's files, apply for graduate, order a transcript and even withdraw from a class after a grade of F has been entered by an instructor.
What is the Records Office?
Does not require general education courses and are intended for technical and vocation fields of study.
What is a certificate?
A student reaching 150% of the published credit length of the program and immediately suspended from Financial aid eligibility.
