What is the difference between the TAP & Pell Grants?

Pell: usually awarded to undergraduates who haven’t earned a bachelor’s or professional degree and who demonstrate financial need. The amounts change yearly, with the maximum award amount for 2018-19 being $5,920.

TAP: Money issued by New York State to NY residents only if a student attends a New York State college. The amount of the grant is based on family income and is obtained by applying submitting an application to the NYS Tuition Assistance Program. (Maximum awarded is ($5,165)
