When any student has successfully completed a prscribed program of study earns this based institutional policies.
What is a degree?
This is similar to a driver's license or state identity card, and includes a photograph of the student, an individualized student number, and the name of the institution. Some have expiration dates or enrollment dates. It is required for admittance to college functions, exams, special discounts.
What is the Student Identification Card?
This will happen to any student not maintaining satisfactory progress toward his/her educational objectives.
What is academic probation?
A student submits the required forms, credentials and fees to his/her chosen learning institution.
What is an admission application?
When a student moves from one institution to another, and wants to bring the credit hours earned to the new institution. Some courses will apply toward graduation, based on the policies of the new institution.
What is Transfer of Credits?
Name these three basic types rewarded for successful completion of programs of study.

What is an audit?
These exams are given during the last week(s) of classes each semester. They are given on specified dates, and are listed in the class schedule.
What is the final exam?
The first number indicates the class year (freshman, etc), the middle two numbers in the subject field, and the last number is equal to the credit hours for that class.
What is the Course Number?
To complete a program of study is based on number of credit hours, required GPA, prerequisite and elective courses in a major and minor area of study.
What are degree requirements?
This describes public two-year junior or community colleges that have an admission policy that states "anyone aged 18 years or older, even if not a high school graduate.
What is an Open Door Institution?
These credit hours could have been earned somewhere else, through military service, or "testing out." The institution accepts these credits toward a degree.
What is advanced credit standing?
Students who earn GPA's above certain specified levels may earn a place on President, Dean or other lists. This is usually only open for full time enrollment students.
What is the Honor Roll?
The universal application for financial aid that includes loans, grants, college work study and any other federal or state programs.
What is the FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid?
All the classes an institution says you have to take to complete a program of study that leads to a degree, or a certificate.
What is the curriculum?
The office of a university or college that is responsible for maintaining official records including student enrollment, and all eligibility requirements.
What is the Registrar?
Students who want to earn college credit by taking tests for each selected course, instead of attending that course. Each test has a charge, and if the student scores high enough, college credit is awarded.
What is the CLEP or College Level Examination Program?
The permanent academic record of a student at a college, or university. It has all courses taken, grades received, academic status and honors received.
What is a transcript?
Awards from these programs are provided from grants, scholarships, loans and part time employment. It is determined by financial need, available funds, and academic performance.
