Course
Class offering.
Transcript
a transcript is a copy of a student's permanent academic record
STEM Center
Study space for STEM students in the Lewis Center at OCC
Lecture
An educational talk to an audience, especially to students in a university or college.
Office Hours
Professors and teaching assistants schedule time outside of class to meet with students. These are called office hours.
Section
a group within a class, meeting at a specific time
GPA
Grade Point Average - "utilizes averaging to determine how well a student has done in the totality of their courses" (units and grade points)
Student Success Center
Where you can access/ meet with tutors at OCC.
Lab
Short for "laboratory" a place providing opportunity for experimentation, observation, or practice in a field of study.
Canvas
Canvas is a course management system that supports online learning and teaching. It allows professors to post grades, information, and assignments online.
unenrolling in a course, it must be done by the add/drop deadline that is published in the Academic Calendar for that semester. f you follow the drop process appropriately, the course will be removed from your schedule.
A numerical value assigned to a letter grade (usually 0 for F, 1 for D, 2 for C, 3 for B, and 4 for A) that is multiplied by the number of credits for the course: used to compute a grade point average.

Withdrawal
Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade

A semester system generally consists of two 16-week terms.
Online
Online Classes are a combination of video recordings and live lectures with course reading and tests.
Pass/No Pass
Some courses allow for a P/NP, not used in calculating a GPA. C or better for "Pass".
Proctorio
A remote proctoring service that is used with some classes when you take quizzes and exams. Proctorio may record your webcam, your screen, or other actions during the exam session and share that information with your instructor.
