Paul wrote Colossians from prison to a church he started on one of his missionary journey's.
What is false.
It is true Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter, however, Paul did not start the church in Colossae. It was Epaphras who is accredited for starting the church.
Ch. 1:18 begins with the following: "He is also the head of the body"..... Give another name for the body.
What is the Church.
Ch. 2:6 ~ Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
What does it mean to "walk in Him"?
Once we receive the crucial facts of what Christ has done for us, we must continue to live in Him daily (our daily walk).
His sacrifice (death, burial, and resurrection) for our sins must be engraved on our minds and permeate our whole lives so that it controls all that we think and do; to continually inspire and sustain our lives.
Paul wrote in Colossians that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
What is True
It is in these verses (vv. 15-20 ff.) that Jesus' full divinity (deity) is affirmed.
Can anyone explain what full divinity or deity means?
Name the person in charge of carrying and reading the letter to the Colossians?
Who is Tychicus.
Ch. 3:24-25 ~ Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men,
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
Being bored and doing as little as possible to get through is not serving or glorifying Christ. As Christians we must serve (work) wholeheartedly in a every circumstance, because our service (work) is something done for the Lord.
Paul writes that he rejoices in his sufferings for the Colossians sake; as a participation in the suffering of the Messiah.
What is True.
In the letter to the Colossians, Paul writes that this person is to be the head of the family. He also writes about wives, children and slaves.
Who is Jesus.
Jesus is Lord. If we have proclaimed Jesus as Lord in our lives, He will be Lord (head) of our house (lives)..
Ch. 4:5 ~ Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders making the most of the opportunity.
Live our faith.. The gospel message must always be lived out by the believer.
Our lives and the way we live speak loudly in today's society and should lead "outsiders" to ask why Christians live as they do, with the answer pointing them to Christ.
We are to present the Gospel at all times, especially when we are not using words.
