What is the SPECIFIC PURPOSE?
The means by which a message is communicated
What is the CHANNEL?
What's wrong with this specific purpose: To inform my audience about American History.

Anything that impedes the communication of a message, either external or internal to listeners.
What is INTERFERENCE? (also called NOISE)
A one-sentence statement that sums up or encapsulates the major ideas of a speech.
What is a CENTRAL IDEA?
Messages sent from a listener to a speaker, usually nonverbal.
What is FEEDBACK?
What a speaker wants the audience to remember after they have forgotten everything else in a speech; what the advertisers want you to remember after you've forgotten everything else about their ad
