This ties a trainer's anecdote back into the learning objective the trainer is attempting to accomplish.

You were encouraged to not use these when presenting your lecturette.
What are notes?
Although these are sometimes "terminal," they can't kill ya!

These are the two broad, fundamental categories of activity that represent what a trainer does regarding a training.
What are design(ing) and deliver(ing)?
You were enouraged--indeed, directed & required--to do this many times during the days and weeks before your trainings.
What is rehearsing?

Usually about 8 or so minutes long, this activity enables trainees to complete simple tasking together, and launches a three-hour training.

It could be called "charm," "stank," "sass," or "spice," and a trainer must incorporate it into their presentations.

During each of your trainings, you were required to make sure that your and your partner(s) had amounts of this that were about equal.

If you don't follow your lecturette with one of these, the learners may not really learn.
