Answers may vary. Being a team player is very important. If you know where to take the trash, you could communicate that you will complete that task once you have finished your current task. If you do not know where the trash goes, you may ask your boss to point you in the right direction.

If you decide you're nervous, but you still want to go, you could tell your friend that you are feeling a little anxious so they know why you are acting the way you are. Your friend might be able to help calm your nerves, but only if they know how you're feeling.

If you are feeling so nervous that you decide not to go, you could thank your friend for the opportunity and explain.

You have been working at your job for a long time. Someone new starts today and your boss asked you to show them around. How could you make your new coworker feel welcomed?

Ask if they have any questions, show them around, introduce yourself. If you have free time, ask them more questions to get to know them.

You want to ask your boss if you can have some time off because you are going on a trip with your family. How far in advance should you ask for this? And, how would you ask this?

Answers may vary. Good to ask at least a couple of weeks in advance. The earlier the better. Someone could ask this by communicating what dates they need off and understanding that if it is not far enough in advance, they may not be able to take that time off. Some jobs may require employees to request off using a certain procedure (writing it, emailing, asking within a specific time frame). Employees should follow that procedure.

A family member asked you to clean your room, but you got distracted and now they are angry because you did not listen. What would you do?

Answers may vary. Apologizing, coming up with a plan to complete the task, explaining why you did not clean your room. Using a calm voice and a coping skill to avoid getting angry back.

Answers may vary...Do so respectfully. Could start by asking if they are feeling okay. A lot of times, people who are rude or mean are feeling sad or upset about something else. Ask how you can help. 

If this continues to be a problem, and you have already talked to your coworker about their actions, you can talk with your boss.

You are having a hard time with a coworker because they are on their phone during the shift. You ALREADY tried talking to the coworker in a respectful way a couple of times. How would you communicate this issue to your boss?

Answers may vary. Speaking respectfully of the coworker while also explaining the issue will be important. Working to formulate a plan to support that coworker and encourage them to do their work.

You just found out you got offered a new, better, job, and have to tell your current job that you will be leaving. How should you do this?

2 weeks notice. Thank your boss for the opportunity to work there. Leave respectfully.

It is important to leave a job in a respectful way in case you want that employer to be a reference for you in the future.
